John M. Harman is a Principal of Roadstead. John has an extensive background in private equity, alternative investments, and tax-efficient portfolio management strategies. His understanding of both the public and private sectors has given him a unique perspective and ability to prudently manage the evolving and complex needs for today's multifaceted client.
Prior to founding Roadstead, John was a Director with a regional investment advisory firm where he oversaw all aspects of due diligence and investment management across a broad base of asset classes and sectors for the firm's clients. He previously held positions with the Private Bank at Merrill Lynch as an equity portfolio manager and with Morgan Stanley, where he was a fixed income research analyst. Over the past decade John has been responsible for several hundred million of capital placement and management for both individuals and institutional investors.
John is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia where he received a B.S. in Managerial Economics and Finance and is a CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) candidate. He holds his Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses. Among many interests, John is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with family, traveling abroad, and fly fishing. John and his wife Ashkia have one son and live in Charleston, SC.
